Sonya Joy - Five Amazing Months!

On the 20th of February, Sonya Joy turned 5 months old! This last month has been one marked by a lot of growth and a little sleep.
Our little girl is almost 12lbs! We went to the cardiologist and she was given a clean bill of health. The hole they had worried about at birth has closed up nicely, and the doctor said we don't have to go back! What an answer to prayer! Sonya smiled  and flirted with the doctors and nurses. As long as she is fed, rested, and being held she's a happy girl. We do call her our high maintenance baby though!
She's getting better with her hands, grabbing at everything so she can taste it. She's very interested in what people are eating, and does her best to make you feel sorry for not sharing. So far I've let her taste apple, cucumber, strawberry, and celery. She loved all of it except the celery. (She's her Mommy's baby!)
Got her first pedicure this month!
Her favorite people are Mom, Dad, and Grammy Hodge. She does pretty good with Grampy too - even though he's always trying to get her to watch cowboy movies with him. Last night she got to talk to Grandma Tracht in Uganda! She enjoyed that but might have been a little confused by the cat that is stuck on their Skype screen. It's a cute cat, but we let her know that her Grandmother doesn't have fur.
After her four month shots Sonya decided to take a break from sleeping through the night. After one particularly rough night, Mom and Dad voted unanimously that it was time to make the great move to her own bedroom. Remarkably, she slept through the night and has ever since moving in there! It's nice to be able to sleep again!
Other than modeling skirts and bows, Sonya has made sure I know she does not approve of being set down while I sew. We're working on reaching a compromise so she doesn't feel neglected, but I can also get some stuff done. She doesn't love her swing that we bought for her, so we call it "The Chair of Banishment." If she's especially cranky in the evenings, we warn her that she'd better be careful or she'll end up there. Matthew learned not to refer to it as the chair of banishment in public, or we  get nasty looks from nosy people listening in. "That's just what we call it. It's a swing! I promise!"
We love our little miracle baby and we are so grateful for every moment we have with her!
