Sonya Joy - 11 Months Old

What happened August 2014

After the Northeast Summit we decided to spend some time together as a family. Matt used all of his vacation days last year in the NICU with Sonya and me, so we were looking forward to a vacation that was actually a vacation!

So we found a free zoo in Cape May, NJ. We had a lot of fun looking at the animals, and although Sonya was still tired from the conference, she perked up when she saw the animals!

Oh Yeah! We are excited!

Maybe not, so excited...

Some animals are just too friendly.

People kept stopping to look at Sonya, so we thought about putting her in her very own exhibit...

But the goats didn't want to share their pen.

"Daddy kept me safe from the animals."

This guy one ugliest animal award!

This guy won coolest animal award

Cutest animal

Scariest animal

Sonya liked the Zebras.

And what's not to like?

After the zoo we went to Wildwood, NJ to walk on the pier and touch the water. We didn't stay long, but it was nice to do something we had never done before as a family!
"I don't know about this, Dad."

She did want to pick up the sea shells.

This is basically what she thought of the ocean.

Sonya wasn't a huge fan of the water that tried to chase her, but it was still fun to see her reaction! The sand was so soft! Now I want to go back!

"No more vacation for me, Mom!"

On August 9th Liam Daniel Hodge was born! We wanted to go see him right away but I was fighting an allergy attack, and didn't think the best way to greet our newest nephew was with a cough and a sniffle!

But about a week later, I felt good enough to go meet the little guy! He was so tiny, which was amazing since he was almost twice as big as Sonya was! But I couldn't imagine a baby any smaller! It's crazy how quickly they grow and how quickly we forget! This little man is adorable and we love him!

Sonya and Londyn enjoyed playing with each other, but Sonya wasn't sure about the baby that she wasn't allowed to grab and drag around. I don't think she's ready to be a big sister yet! Speaking of babies, Sonya's favorite toy right now is a baby doll we bought at the dollar store. It's flat and she drags it around and uses it as a hand cushion while she crawls. Proving that you don't have to pay a lot to make your little one happy!
It was while we were in New Jersey that Sonya decided that she was ready to stand up by herself. She also took three steps all by herself! She's growing too fast!
We took Londyn and Sonya to the park together

Sonya had more fun than it appears.

He's a precious little man.
