My Fun Wicker Find

I hate paying full price for anything, so putting together a baby room is proving to be a fun challenge! So far most of our finds have been from Craigslist, and although it's often so much cheaper, it's also a whole bunch more work. I probably would never have the courage to buy anything off Craigslist if I didn't have my sweet husband there to protect, navigate, and lift everything for me!
When I saw the add on Craigslist I knew it was exactly what I wanted - and it takes quite a bit to entice me into meeting new people and doing new things... But I knew this was mine! So, I emailed the lister, waited anxiously for his response. I was disappointed to hear that he already had an offer, but he would contact me if it fell through. It took all my will power to pray "Father, Thy will" instead of "Father, I want it! I want it! I want it!" What a relief and a blessing it was to get an email saying that the offer had fallen through, and we were welcome to take a look at the furniture if we were still interested.
The furniture included a dresser, nightstand, and mirror. It was listed for $100, and looked it good enough shape that I was fairly sure I would take it. We drove about 45 minutes to meet the owner. He was a well dressed, very well spoken individual. He said the furniture had been kept at a summer lake house, so it really hadn't been overly used or abused. The dresser and nightstand came with two heavy sheets of glass to protect the tops, so they were in very good condition. I told him I would take them!
He helped us load them into our vehicle, but when I handed him the money, he handed me $40 back, and told us that was his baby gift to us. What a huge and unexpected blessing!

That was a couple weeks ago, but I finally decided today was the day I was going to paint them! Painting may be fun, but it's hard to get excited about it when it's a scillion degrees outside - okay, 95 degrees with humidity. It felt like a scillion degrees! I hung the close out on the line, and they dried in record time, so I convinced myself that the heat was good! It would help the paint dry quickly!

Along with my $60 dollar dresser, mirror, and nightstand, I had found a slightly beat up plastic wicker laundry hamper - for a dollar. It was too tempting to pass up, so I brought it home with the intention of improving it with a little TLC. It was added to my list of things to spray paint.

It's not a bad little hamper for a dollar!

This is the dresser. I washed it down with soap and water. Then I pulled out the spray paint.

Tada! I really think they all turned out beautifully! It's going to be so much fun to finish putting together our little girls room! Thank You, God, for the great finds and the little blessings You send our way just to keep us encouraged. Thank You for cool water and air conditioning on hot days like these - perfect days for drying paint and clothes!
